Farooq Abdullah will not contest election

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

National Conference leader and Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has virtually bowed out of politics.

He will not contest from his constituency in Ganderbal, Srinagar, in the upcoming assembly election in the state, party sources said on Friday.

However, Abdullah will be the NC's star campaigner, the sources said.
