Shabir Shah ready to meet Pant

Mukhtar Ahmad in Srinagar

Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party chief Shabir Ahmad Shah on Monday said he was prepared to meet the Centre's interlocutor K C Pant to discuss the peace process in Kashmir.

Pant arrived in Srinagar on Monday afternoon on a week-long visit in a bid to push the peace process forward.

Shah, however, told newspersons in his party headquarters in Rajbagh that he would like to begin the parleys with an informal meeting with Pant in Srinagar.

"So far, I have not been invited for talks by Pant," he clarified.

Shah reiterated that a confidence building. conducive atmosphere needed to be created for talks to become meaningful.
