Sonia calls for government's resignation

George Iype in Bangalore

Four days after the defence deals scam broke, Congress president Sonia Gandhi aired her views on the subject for the first time when she called for the resignation of the National Democratic Alliance government on moral grounds.

Sonia Gandhi was addressing the opening session of the All India Congress Committee's plenary meet in Bangalore on Saturday.

However, she still did not reveal what the Congress party's strategy would be, and merely said she will spell it out in detail in her closing speech on Sunday.
