CVC may probe defence deals scam

Sheela Bhatt in New Delhi

Chief Vigilance Commissioner N Vittal told rediff.com on Thursday that he would look into the defence deals scandal.

"I have enough power to investigate this matter further, and today I will be sending a letter to Defence Secretary Yogesh Narain asking him for more details on the expose. I am also calling the tehelka.com team to my office to get more information from them. I have already downloaded the material from their web site and am studying it."

The CVC said, "I am looking into some other defence deals where the country might have lost Rs 5 billion, but I can't give you those details since the matter is under investigation."
