The Army has ordered a court of inquiry headed by a lieutenant general to look into the involvement of its officials in the tehelka.com expose.
The Army headquarters will also hand over suspension orders to three other officers shown in the clandestine tapes, on their return to New Delhi, according to sources.
An Army spokesman said the Court of Inquiry will be headed by a lieutenant general and will look into the allegations against them. The inquiry will cover all aspects of the tapes and accepting of bribes on camera by these officers.
The defence ministry has already placed under suspension Major General PSK Chaudhary, additional director general (weapons and equipment) and three other civilian officers.
Major General Chaudhary is shown in the video as accepting Rs 1,00,000 and a gold chain as bribe.
According to Army headquarters sources, other three Army officers shown in the video have been asked to return to Delhi. All of them are out of town, and on their return they are to be handed over their suspension orders, sources said. One of them is a major general, other a brigadier and the third a colonel -- additional director general (ordnance), Major General MS Ahluwalia, prospective procurement officer, Brigadier Iqbal Singh, and director in the ordnance services, Colonel Anil Sehgal.
Sources said Brigadier Iqbal Singh and Colonel Sehgal reported back on Wednesday afternoon and are being questioned at the army headquarters.
