Shelton to begin India visit Wednesday

The chairman of the United States Joint Chiefs of Staff General Henry H Shelton will arrive in India on Wednesday on a three-day official visit.

He is the first-ever US joint chiefs of staff to visit India.

Shelton will hold intensive discussions with the three service chiefs, Admiral Sushil Kumar, General S Padmnabhan and Air Chief Marshal A Y Tipnis as well as the Defence Secretary Yogendra Narain.

He will also call on the Defence and External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh and hold parleys with National Security Adviser Brajesh Mishra.

Though General Shelton arrives on Wednesday, he would begin his formal talks only on Thursday.
