I have lived in Ahmedabad for 25 years and today when I look at what God has done to my Gujarat my heart cries cries and cries. May God help Gujarat and my fellow gujjus.... SPECIAL NOTE FOR DIRTY POLITICIANS : STOP YOUR DIRTY POLITICS AND GET ON WITH REALITY. DON'T EVEN TRY TO STEAL A SINGLE PAISE OR PENNY FROM IT. IF YOU DID THEN I PROMISE YOU ONE THING AND THAT IS GOD IS GOING TO KICK YOU. THIS IS JUST FRUSTRATION AGAINGST MOST OF THE POLITICIANS THAT WE HAVE IN PRESENT INDIA. IT IS A TIME FOR YOU ALL TO SHOW HUMANITY ( IF LEFT ANY ) TOWARDS YOUR COUNTRYMEN. FOR YOUR ENTIRE LIFE YOU HAVE WORRIED ABOUT IS HOW TO SAVE A "KHURSI" OR "GADDI". NOW THINK ABOUT HOW TO SAVE PEOPLE AND HOW TO GIVE THEM A NEW LIFE. Condolence Message:This is such a tragedy that had occured in a VAST nation. All we can do is hope and pray for the recovery and normalcy of the thousands of people who walked away from the death row. Can this be DEALT with if we had better WARNING. Read the article about the "Man who can predict Earth quakes" Is he for real, if he is why can't the government let him do a study instead of wasting money on unwanted issues. Instead of the corrupt politicians filling up their pockets why can't this scientist be allowed and given a chance to prove himself. If he is so sure to PUBLISH an article in the Gujarathi newspaper and send warnings to government, why the those damn politicians do anything about it. Well now it had already happened, can we move on as a nation and be better prepared for the future. Can we let this so called scientist prove he is right and can we give him a chance. As a indian i think i would definetly give him a chance. Voice ur opinion to the corrupt and dumb politicians. Hope a tragedy of this nature and magnitude does not happen in the future and even if it does hopefully we would be better prepared and ready to face it.

Condolence Message:The Earthquake Message Board: United in Grief As the rest of the nation celebrated Republic Day, Gujarat had been laid low by the worst earthquake in 50 years. Ahmedabad, Bhuj, Bhachchao, Anjaar... bustling townships today resemble a ghost town. Even as tragedy spreads its cruel tentacles, bereaving families by the thousands, the indomitable human spirit has emerged from the debris. Keeping aside personal tragedy and personal differences, the Indian people have rallied together as they do in times of calamity. NGOs have jumped in with assistance, corporate titans have assured help, and the citizenry itself is going about relief work, rebuilding Gujarat. Do post your condolences for the victims. Let us show that we are with them in this hour of crisis, in thought at least if not in person.

This is more poignant to me personally since I am familiar with the towns of Anjaar and Bhuj, which I used to visit during my ship's calls at the Port of Kandla. As they say, time is the best healer and I hope and pray and am confident that the affected families have the enduring human spirit to pull through this sad happening.

Condolence Message:This is an appeal to the humanity of the people of South Asia. We have all seen how catastrophic this earthquake has been. It has flattened the entire Gujarat State. More than 30,000 people have been killed. We have all been shocked into a sense of brotherhood due to the enormous human tragedy that has occured. This is a good time to ponder -- what would have happened if it had been a nuclear bomb? The Hiroshima bomb immediately killed 150,000 people and the Nagasaki bomb killed more than 200,000 people immediately. Today's nuclear bombs are tens, even hundreds, of times more powerful. I am sorry for trying to get across a political message during this tragedy. But, if not now, WHEN will we learn to be more human and to oppose agents of mass destruction like nuclear bombs?

Condolence Message:My family and I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to all those who lost their loved ones in the horrific tragedy in Gujarat. We reside in Canada, and everytime we switched on our TV, we helplessly learnt of a few more deaths, a few more collapses, a few more tremors... Having lived in Gujarat and Ahmedabad most of our life, so many of those areas and buildings were familiar names and therefore the tragedy more heart-rending... As a nation and as a state, we are known to be resilient and hence will surely rise from this tragedy to prosper again, this time only with the memories of our loved ones whom we lost. Tragically, it took an earthquake and thousands of deaths for the government to react to all the corrupt practices of builders and contractors. From what we gather, there are pending cases in courts against most of the high-rise building contractors in Ahmedabad for flagrant disregard of safety violations. At the same time, we have also learnt that the government was legalising illegal construction for a penalty!! So, can we really expect justice? Will the guilty ever be punished? Or, as usual, the government will drag its feet, wait for palms to be greased and let Time, the Great Healer take care of matters?

Condolence Message:The earthquake which rocked Gujarat has exposed the stuff that our politicians are made of. On the one hand, we have the humble coolies at Ahmedabad railway station contributing Rs 50 per coolie per day and providing fleeing survivors a decent meal .On the other hand we have politicians seeking mileage out of such a calamity. Their high profile visits play havoc with rescue and relief work. We have poor people sacrificing one square meal a day to help their brethren while the bureaucracy is hell bent on lining its own pockets. Will somebody tell me what happened to the millions which poured in after the Latur earthquake in 1993?We still have those victims dwelling in slums in Mumbai. The money has presumably been siphoned off. There is already talk about committees being sent abroad to study disaster management. This is how contributions made to the government are likely to be utilised. As of now there are villages where no help has reached. There is absolute mismanagement as far as government efforts are concerned. Relief materials are being stolen. An old survivor who saw such materials being diverted by a private contractor has reportedly been done to death. In another week one can find all the sleeping bags, woolens , clothes etc sent by our friends abroad being openly sold in Karol Bagh , Janpath etc in New Delhi..This has happened earlier and things appear to be no different this time. Why should taxes be increased to fund the relief work? It would be enough to ensure that aid reaches those for whom it is meant. Millions are pouring in. There should be accountability for every rupee spent. Politicians should voluntarily give up any perks for one year and their salaries should be drastically cut. They have enough additional income as such. I have just one request to our friends abroad who wish to contribute to relief .Kindly send in your donations only to organisations involved in re
