Advani asks Pakistan to condemn terrorism

Accusing the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed of being responsible for Thursday's attack on Parliament, Union Home Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani on Thursday said the suspected terrorists had planned to kill Indian leaders

He also debunked the Pakistani claim that Indian intelligence agencies had stage-managed the attack with the intention of tarnishing Pakistan's reputation.

"They (the attackers) belonged to the Lashkar-e-Tayiba or Jaish-e-Mohammed. They had planned to kill Indian leaders," he told reporters in Ahmedabad.

Asserting that the government wanted Pakistan to take action against the LeT and JeM, Advani said, "Islamabad must stop financing these organisations and should be true to its utterances about curbing terrorism."

"As a member of the United Nations, Pakistan should publicly condemn terrorism," he added.

Praising the security personnel for their sacrifice, Advani said, "They used their presence of mind and prevented the terrorists from entering the House."
