Attack on Parliament: Two detained

Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies picked up two persons on Friday morning from a hotel in the heart of Delhi in connection with Thursday's terrorist attack on Parliament.

Official sources said that the breakthrough was achieved while scrutinising the mobile phones of the five-member suicide squad killed by the security forces.

Two Indian women have also been questioned by various agencies for a possible role in providing topographic details of the Parliament House complex, they said.

A map of Parliament House, with notings in English, was found in one of the bags carried by the terrorists, they said.

The sources maintained that investigations were going in the 'right direction' and that there was possibility of a breakthrough soon.

The sources said that members of the suicide squad had made calls to these two detained men who were staying in the hotel for quite some time.

However, it was not immediately clear whether the two have been arrested, they added.

The sources quoting some of the injured security personnel said that the militants were speaking in Urdu and had shouted Pakistan zindabad while carrying out the attack.

They said the preliminary investigations revealed that the attack was jointly carried out by cadres of the Lashker-e-Tayiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
