An officer and three soldiers were killed and six others injured when two militants -- members of a Lashkar-e-Tayiba suicide squad -- stormed an Army camp at Lassi Pora in Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir late on Friday night.
The officer has been identified as Captain Mukul Vastav, while the names of the three soldiers killed are not yet known.
The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, senior officials said.
An LeT spokesman said two members of its fidayeen squad stormed the camp and killed several security personnel. Both militants, the spokesman added, have since returned to their hideout safely.
Police sources said militants fired a rocket at the sentry post on the main gate, killing the sentry on the spot. Thereafter, they stormed the camp and fired indiscriminately. They also hurled grenades inside the camp.
