Clinton arrives in Bombay,
drives straight to hotel

Former US president Bill Clinton arrived in Bombay from Ahmedabad by a chartered Indian Airlines plane on Thursday night after visiting earthquake-hit areas in Gujarat.

Clinton was received at the airport among others by Minister of State for Home Kripashankar Singh, NCP president Sharad Pawar and members of the American Consulate.

Clad in a cream-coloured suit, Clinton on his second visit to the city, drove straight to Hotel Taj in south Bombay. He would be put up in the heritage wing of the hotel.

Clinton would be meeting Pawar, who is vice-chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee set up by the prime minister, and also have a luncheon with noted industrialist Dhirubhai Ambani's family on Friday.

Clinton is also scheduled to meet eminent industrialist Ratan Tata on Friday evening.
