Vajpayee stresses commitment to fight terrorism: PTI

M K Razdan at the United Nations

Underlining India's firm commitment to fight terrorism, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Friday signed an international convention that makes it obligatory on its signatories to identify, detect, freeze and seize funds collected for committing such acts.

The signing of the convention by Vajpayee during the United Nations Millennium Summit is considered significant as India is a victim of Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism and has been at the forefront of seeking international support to fight the menace.

Vajpayee signed the 28-article convention, initiated by France, at the UN headquarters shortly before he addressed the summit.

rediff.com has assigned Associate Editors Amberish K Diwanji and Savera R Someshwar to cover Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's visit to the United States. Don't forget to log into rediff.com for news of this historic visit as it happens!
