Prithvi test-fired successfully

The surface-to-surface short range Prithvi missile was successfully test-fired at 1415 hours today from the interim test range at Chandipur-on-sea, about 15 km from Balasore.

Defence sources said V K Atre, scientific adviser to the ministry of defence was among those present during the test-firing.

Prithvi was first test-fired from Sriharikota on February 22, 1988 and subsequently from Chandipur-on-sea on May 5, 1992.
