Desipalooza Offers NY Three-In-One Treat

As Desipalooza is getting ready to invade New York on September 11, after kicking off dust in Chicago the previous day, the organizers are offering dance crazy desis a three-in-one treat.

The New York Show will open with Rukus Avenue, the California band that has become North America's newest Desi label and also showcase well-known New York DJs.

The list includes Penn Masala, the only capella Indian group in America. Ruckus Avenue, a California band, will also contribute.

There will be a dance competition between NYU, Rutgers, Temple, Hofstra and St Johns students.

In New York, as in Chicago and three other cities where Desipalooza took place, the British bands B21 and Stereo Nation offer an exciting evening. And then there is Sukhbir from Dubai. Several local groups will be participating.

The winners of coast to coast dance and bhangra competition will also be announced.

The Big Apple show will be at the Kit Kat Klub, one of the most coveted of New York venues. It is located at 124 West 43rd Street, between 6th Avenue and Broadway.

Doors open at 6.30 pm and the show starts at 7.30 pm.

The general admission price of $ 40 includes the pre-party bash and the celebration after the event.

The two extra events will have live performance by Soundtripps. Music is provided by DJs RB, Odyssey, Sona, Ashish, Khaos, Kucha, Magic Mike and by Desi Nation, Bhangra Blasters.

The Chicago event also includes DJs Speed of B96, Bobby Kanaka, DJ Donny Brasco and DJ Sultan and from London, DJ Swami And then there is TS Soundz and Typhoon Asha, and Lil' Jay will release his album, Lil' Jay 3.

Doors open at 7 pm and the party is on till 3 am.

Advance tickets are $ 35 for regular admission and $ 50 (VIP). Tickets are available at all Carson Pirie Scott, HotTix, Dominicks and Tower Records stores. Also available on Devon through Al-Mansoor Video and Video Vision.
