E-Mail this report to a friend

The south-west monsoon may hit the coasts of Kerala and Lakshadweep in the next two or three days, according to the meteorological office.

Meteorological Director R Lakshminarayanan said in Thiruvananthapuram that the conditions were favourable for the monsoon to set in with heavy rainfall recorded in most parts of Kerala.

Barring 1985, when it had set in on May 20, monsoon had been hitting the state between May 25 and June 2 during the past three decades, he pointed out.

Rain and thundershowers continued unabated in most parts of the state with Thodupuzha and Piravom recording the maximum rainfall of eight centimetres during the past 24 hours.
