BJP promises Goans 'transparent' administration

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which is making a determined bid to improve its position in Goa politics, today released a 46-page manifesto for the June 4 state assembly election.

Releasing the manifesto, party leader Sushma Swaraj described it as people-oriented and said if implemented, it would bring about drastic changes in the life of the people of the state. Sanghpriya Gautam, BJP general secretary in charge of Goa, was also present on the occasion.

State unit general secretary Manohar Parrikar said, if voted to power, the BJP would ensure that there would be a small cabinet. He said the economic and industrial policies would be remodelled to give local resources and talent enough opportunities and added that the tourism and leisure industry would be made more effective by removing irritants.

The manifesto vowed to root out political and administrative corruption by making the government's workings transparent and accountable. He also said that education would be made job-oriented.
