UP minister's son held after servant's death

Minister of State for Uttaranchal Development Ram Narayan Das' son and his bodyguard were arrested yesterday in connection with the death of a domestic help.

A police spokesman said the servant fell from the sixth floor residence of the minister situated in the Dalibagh area of Lucknow.

In the first information report lodged at the Hazratganj police station, Ganshyam, another household help, said the minister's son Kundan had suspected the servant of being involved in the theft of Rs 15,000 from the house.

He alleged that Kundan and the minister's gunman Jaikishan beat the servant who ran to the balcony to protect himself, from where he fell down and died.

A case under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered against Kundan and Jaikishan.
