Samata to contest five LS seats from Jharkhand

E-Mail this report to a friend

The Samata Party will contest at least five Lok Sabha seats in the Jharkhand region of Bihar in the coming Lok Sabha elections.

This was decided at a meeting of the party's Ranchi district unit yesterday.

This may come as a jolt to the Bharatiya Janata Party. All the 14 seats in south Bihar were contested by the BJP, which had tie-up with the Samata Party, in the 1998 parliamentary polls.

The party also decided to hold a block-level workers' meeting soon to mobilise the electorate in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party-Samata Party combine.
