Concert For CRY Benefit

Loka Shankar, on flute and accompanied by Rajesh Salem on the mridangam, are performing at a concert to benefit Child Relief and You, on July 25, 4 pm.

The event is organised in co-operation with MITHAS, at the Wong Auditorium, MIT, Cambridge.

CRY, an organisation that fights bonded labor and child exploitation across India, has completed two decades of service in India and has found support among many NRIs here and in Canada.

It is reportedly the largest child development organisation in India, reaching out to more than 750,000 children through 314 projects.

Several American human rights and child welfare groups have been associated with CRY. Many activists such as Ingrid Jacobson, director of an after school program in San Francisco, has worked with underprivileged children in Varanasi.

The first annual CRY seminar was held at Stanford University on May 22 and was addressed by Dr Beverly Edmonds, the executive director of Peace and Human Rights in Education.
