Pak police question Maulana Azhar's father, brother

E-Mail this report to a friend

Pakistani security officials are questioning close relatives of Maulana Masood Azhar whose release has been sought by the hijackers of Indian Airlines flight IC 814.

Maulana Azhar's father Maulana Allah Bux and his brother Mohammad Tahir were taken away by the police from their home in Bahawalpur, the Dawn reported.

''Early in the morning they took away my father and brother,'' Azhar's elder sister said. ''They said they would come home soon, but have not come as yet. We are worried and alone,'' she added.

Maulana Azhar, 45-year-old ideologue of the pan-Islamic Harkat-ul-Ansar, is under detention at the high security Kot Bhalwal prison, 15 km from Jammu in India.
