Russia calls for special UN meetingRussia today demanded that a special meeting of the United Nations be convened to discuss the hijacking of the Indian Airlines flight IC 814. Diplomats, however, said such a meeting may not take place before Monday. A British diplomat said in absence of a formal request in this regard, the meeting was unlikely to take place at a short notice. Indian diplomatic officials stationed in New York, meanwhile, refused to make a comment, saying they had no knowledge of any such request by any country. More details, including reactions from Delhi, are awaited.
