Relatives storm Jaswant's meeting

E-Mail this report to a friend

Relatives of passengers on board Flight 814 stormed External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh's press conference this afternoon, saying the government was not keeping them informed about what is being done to rescue their family members and friends.

"Ministers are only making grandiose statements without anything being done for the passengers's release," one relative screamed, throwing the press conference into chaos.

"If seven terrorists could be released for one minister's daughter (a reference to the Rubaiya Sayeed release in December 1989), why can't one terrorist be released for 158 passengers?" asked another. "We will not lose Kashmir if we release one man."

The Union Cabinet will meet later this evening to discuss the hijack crisis.
