Chronology of hijackings in IndiaFollowing is the list of hijackings prior to the latest one today of a Kathmandu-New Delhi Indian Airlines Airbus: Jan 13, 1994: Indian Airlines Bangalore-Madras A-320 Airbus with 56 passengers, 7 crew hijacked. The hijacker wanted Marathwada university to be renamed after Dr B R Ambedkar. April 24, 1993: Delhi-Srinagar IA Boeing 737 with 141 passengers and six crew members hijacked to Amritsar. Hijacker wanted it diverted to Kabul. April 10, 1993: IA Lucknow-Delhi flight IC-436 hijacked by four college students, demanding that the problems plaguing the Lucknow Arts College be resolved; lands at Amausi airport. March 27, 1993: An IA Hyderabad-Lucknow-Delhi flight IC-439 hijacked by Hari Singh. Landed at Rajasansi Airport, Amritsar. Jan 22, 1993: A Patna-Lucknow-Delhi Indian Airlines flight IC-810, hijacked by Satish Chandra Pandey shortly after take-off. He surrendered at the instance of BJP leader A B Vajpayee. Feb 4, 1991: Abortive bid to hijack a Calcutta-Agartala flight by a 24-year old youth. Nov 10, 1990: Two Burmese youth hijack a Thai Airlines Airbus with 221 passengers on board to Calcutta. Sept 13, 1990: Attempt to hijack a Coimbatore-Bangalore-Madras Indian Airlines IC 534 to Sri Lanka. 1984: Indian Airlines Srinagar-Delhi flight diverted to Lahore by All India Sikh Students Federation. Sep 29, 1981: Delhi-Srinagar Indian Airlines flight diverted to Lahore by activists of the Dal Khalsa International. 1971: An Indian Airlines Srinagar-bound plane hijacked to Islamabad by a former associate of JKLF chief Amanullah Khan.
