Politicians asked to lay off AIR, DD

The Prasar Bharati Board has asked political parties not to interfere in the functioning of the All India Radio and Doordarshan newsrooms.

The Board passed resolution to this effect in a meeting on Sunday.

Professor U R Rao, a senior member of the board, said that Deputy Director-General Harish Awasthi has been designated to receive complaints with regard to news bulletins and election coverage.

Another member, B G Verghese said the aim of the resolution was to ensure "fair play to all concerned."
