Pokhran natives to be compensated for damagesThe Rajasthan government will pay compensation to the villagers whose houses were damaged following the nuclear tests in Pokhran last week. Deputy Chief Minister Hari Shankar Bhabhra said that a special team of state government officials would leave for Khetolai village, situated about seven km away from the blast site, and other adjoining areas to assess the damage. The team would grant on-the-spot compensation to the owners of the damaged houses, he said. Some houses in Khetolai had developed cracks following the explosions. The tremors were also felt in several adjoining towns including Jodhpur, Barmer and Jaisalmer. UNI
