'I tried becoming a villain!'

Sukanya Verma

For the launch party of Sony Entertainment Television's most-talked about game show, Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke, event organisers Wizcraft decided to transform Bombay's Taj Mahal Hotel's Crystal Room into a mela of sorts. Govinda in Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke

Guns shooting balloons at a Govinda effigy and puzzle game stalls were set at different corners of the room. However, the most popular feature seemed to be a cardboard rickshaw with a huge picture of Govinda at its side.

For added measure, a photographer carrying a Polaroid camera, was on the ready to click pictures.

A few clips from the show were aired. Six scantily clad girls strutted to the tunes of the Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke track sung by Shaan -- composed by Lezlie Lewis and choreographed by Ganesh Acharya.

The star of the show, Govinda, was nowhere to be seen.

The Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke launch party Meanwhile, here's a snippet for you: Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke was originally titled Chappar Phaad Ke. The Jeeto came on because someone else has already registered the original title.

A flurry. A rush towards the entrance. Govinda appeared, in a blue shirt and cream suit.

A few trademark jhatkas later, he said, "I have always been said one thing. I shall repeat it: God keeps bestowing opportunities on me. And I shall keep working.

"I intend to do good work, do good deeds.

"So far I have never taken the credit for anything, and will continue doing so. All this is thanks to my parents and well-wishers.

"I never imagined I would become a hero. I tried becoming a villain -- and landed up with the hero's role.

"Life has been full of unexpected, sudden surprises. I am glad that I became a hero. Now you will be seeing me in a new role of a host in Jeeto Chappar Phaad Ke. " Jeeto Chappad Phaad Ke

One Govinda supporter was overheard saying, " Kaun Banega Crorepati is gradually turning predictable and boring. JCPK will be spruced up with a lot of dance, jokes and mimicry by apna Govinda."

Amen!
