Market@May 28: Day's report

Himachal, Zee, Sterlite Optical and Digital were star perfomers. All of them gained more than 6 per cent each. Other software stocks also attracted buying interest and remained in demand.

The performance of old economy stocks was also impressive. L & T, Tata Power, RPL, Tata Tea, Tisco and BSES recorded impressive gains. The trading volume was highest on BSE since SEBI imposed a ban on short selling.

Sensex up 60 points at 3720. Nifty up 17 points at 1192.

Gainers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Mastek, McDowell, Crest Com, Aksh Optical, Thermax, Adani Exports, Kale Consulting, Thomak Cook, RS Software, Esab, Tips, Bharat Forge.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
L & T, Zee, Digital, Himachal, VSNL, Aptech, Sterlite Optical, TV 18, Apollo Tyres, Escorts, CMC, Sesa Goa.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Mirc Elect.
