Market@May 22: Day's report

The opening for software stocks was good and the performance was positive for a major part of the day. While second rank software stocks recorded impressive gains, Sterlite Optical, Global, Silverline and DSQ Software were also up more than 4 per cent each. Other stocks also remained firm.

Among the old economy stocks, pharma stocks remained in great demand. Sun Pharma, Dr Reddy and Aurobindo Pharma recorded impressive gains. Cipla and Ranbaxy also attracted buying. Overall trading volume was relatively higher on both exchanges.

Sensex up one point at 3641. Nifty down one point at 1168.

Gainers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
DSQ Bio, Tata Elxsi, Mastek, Polaris, PSI Data, Padmini Tech, Titan, Crest Com, Atlas Copco, HCL Info, Kale Consult.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
DSQ Software, Dr Reddy, Shyam Tele, Sun Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, RS Soft, Trent, Soffia Soft.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent Philips, VisualSoft, Jayant Agro.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
