Market@May 3: Day's report

Wipro managed to remain in demand for a major part of the day and closed 6 per cent higher. Sterlite Optical also gained 6 per cent. But stocks like Satyam, Global Tele, Pentamedia, Infosys, and DSQ Software witnessed selling pressure during the second half.

Among the old economy counters, ACC lost 8 per cent. L&T, Grasim, Tata Power, Tisco, Ranbaxy, Reliance Petroleum, MTNL, Cipla, and Bhel remained under pressure.

Sensex closed 44 points lower at 3494. Nifty down 15 points at 1122.
