Market@March 21: Day's report

After a weak start, the software stocks managed to recover during the second half of the day. The recovery was of more than 5 per cent in the top software stocks.

Infosys and Digital managed to gain more than 3 per cent each. Global also gained 8 per cent. Wipro and DSQ Software, however, are down marginally.

Reliance remained the star performer and provided a major boost to the index. It hit an upper circuit at 8 per cent. HLL, RPL, Grasim, Tisco, Ranbaxy, IPCL, BPCL and Hindalco also showed impressive gains.

Sensex up 129 points at 3801. Nifty up 41 points at 1212.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
Global, RPL, Reliance Capital, Amara Raja Batteries, Kesoram, Hindalco, Nath Seeds, Chennai Petro, Aksh Opti, Kodak India, Bank of Rajasthan.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
Padmalaya Tele, Visualsoft, Tips, Creative Eye.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
