Market@February 20: Day's report

Cement counters were the star performers. L&T, Gujarat Ambuja, ACC and Grasim gained more than 4 per cent each.

Bhel, Indo Gulf Corp, Tata Power, Mahindra & Mahindra, Ashok Leyland, HPCL and BPCL also remained in great demand and recorded impressive gains.

Performance of software stocks was dull. Counters remained in a narrow range and sentiment remained negative for a major part of the day.

Sensex up 8 points at 4359. Nifty unchanged at 1385.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
L&T, Indo Gulf Corp, Tata Elxsi, Gujarat Ambuja, Ashok Leyland, Moser Baer, Indian Rayon, Trent, IBP, Vital Com, Himalaya Int.

Losers: Between 7.9 per cent and 16 per cent
MRO-Tek, Vision Tech, Videocon VCR.

Losers: Between 5 per cent and 7.89 per cent
