Market@February 9: Day's report

Banking, power and pharma stocks remained in great demand. Stocks like ICICI, Tata Power, Glaxo, Corporation Bank, Bhel, SBI, Tisco, Sterlite and SAIL were the star performers.

Tech stocks came under strong selling pressure during the second half of the day. Himachal and Global Tele were major losers. Both counters lost more than 5 per cent each. DSQ Soft, Infosys, Zee Tele, and Satyam also remained weak. However, Wipro was strong for a major part of the day.

Sensex up 16 points 4398. Nifty up 9 points at 1404.
