Sinha says attack on parliament will not hit economy

Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha said on Friday the suicide attack on parliament would not have an impact on the country's economy or foreign investment inflows.

"It created some uncertainty for a limited time yesterday. But there is nothing more to it," Sinha told Reuters when asked if the attack would hurt the economy.

"I don't think we should allow panic to overtake us at all. We are too big a nation to be deviated from our path by any such attack," he said when asked if the assault would hit foreign investment.

Sinha also said he did not see the possibility of any war risk "at this moment of time".

Five gunmen drove into New Delhi's parliament complex on Thursday and killed seven people before security forces gunned them down. Political analysts say if the attackers were linked to Kashmir separatists, it raises the risk of another war with Pakistan.
