Market@September 29: Day's report

It was a dull day at the bourses, stocks from the software sector showed narrow movement for a major part of the day. The trading volumes also remained thin. Forthcoming holidays had its impact on sentiment.

Stocks like Global Tele, Himachal and Zee Tele gained more than one per cent each. Silverline, DSQ Soft and NIIT however showed a negative close. Sterlite was down 5 per cent.

In the non-software segment, HLL was up nearly 4 per cent. Other stocks like MTNL, SBI, Bhel, ITC and ICICI remained weak.

Sensex up 23 points at 4091, Nifty up 7 points at 1273.
