Market@September 27: Day's report

The market opened with a huge downside gap as a large number of the top software stocks opened with a gap of mre than 2 per cent each. However, the sentiment improved during the later part of the day. At the end, nearly all the stocks showed positive close.

Pentamedia remained the star performer. It gained 8 per cent. Digital Equipment also gained more than 6 per cent. Other stocks like Infosys, Global Tele, and SSI also gained more than 2 per cent each.

In the non-sofware segment, stocks like Reliance and Reliance Petro attracted strong buying. While Reliance gained 3 per cent while Reliance Petro was up nearly 10 per cent. Other pivotals also remained firm.
