Market@September 26: Day's report

Software stocks opened on a weak note and remained negative throughout the day. At close stocks like Global Tele and DSQ Soft were down more than 8 per cent.

Other technology stocks like Satyam, SSI, Himachal, Silverline and SSI also reported fall of more than 5 per cent each. Other technology stocks also remained under pressure.

The sentiment for non-software stocks also remained weak. MTNL, ITC and Reliance managed to attract buying. MTNL recorded an all-time high volume of 87.5 lakh shares.

Sensex down 84 points at 4090, Nifty down 19 points at 1273.
