Market@October 16: Day's report

The software stocks opened on a strong note in the morning and after remaining firm for some time the dowtrend started. All the software stocks showed a sharp fall from the peak.

Satyam was the first to fall, at close it was down more than one per cent. Infosys, Himachal, Wipro, Silverline and DSQ Soft also dipped sharply. NIIT meanwhile gained 13 per cent.

In the non-software segment, Reliance and HLL remained under pressure. MTNL, ITC and Ranbaxy did well.

Sensex down 9 points at 3730, Nifty unchanged at 1177 points.
