Market@October 9: Day's report

Values remained in a narrow range throughout the day. At the end of the day, stocks like Pentamedia, Satyam, Infosys and Silverline showed a positive close but the gain was not significant. Other stocks were down marginally.

In the non-software segment, cement stocks remained under pressure. Grasim, Gujarat Ambuja and L&T dropped sharply. Sterlite also dipped over 10 per cent. HLL and ITC also remained under pressure. Overall trading volume was low.

Sensex down 37 points at 4056. Nifty down 20 points at 1265.
