Market@May 2: Day's report

Market opened firm on Tuesday but immediately came under strong selling pressure. The increased limit of circuit filters also provided more room for a fall. The selling was strong in software stocks, and the sentiment for non-software stocks was also negative. Among the index-based counters, HLL, Reliance, SBI, ITC, Ranbaxy, Satyam Computer and Zee Tele dipped sharply.

Satyam Computer, Reliance, Zee Tele, Infosys and Silverline topped the volume charts accounting for 59 per cent of the total trading volume on the BSE. Raymond witnessed all time high volume of 39.2 lakh shares.

Sensex down 285 points at 4373, Nifty down 72 points at 1335.

Losers: Between 12 per cent and 7.5 per cent
Satyam Computer, HLL, Himachal Futuristic, Sterlite, SSI, Pentamedia, Rel Capital, Rolta, Silverline, Wipro, Digital Equipment, Dr. Reddy's, DSQ Soft, HPCL, Ranbaxy, ICICI, BPL, Grasim, Cipla, Hughes Soft, McDowell, Glaxo, VSNL, Hinduja Finance, Bharat Electronics, Grompton Greaves, Corp Bank, Hind Lever Chemicals, Sun Pharma, Orient Info and Ashok Leyland.

Gainers: Between 5 per cent and 7.49 per cent
P&G, Cyberspace, Magan Ind, Modiluft, Sharp Ind and Principle Pharma.

Losers: Between 7.49 per cent and 5 per cent
Reliance, MTNL, NIIT, Tisco, ACC, ITC, HCL Info, Moser Baer, Essel Packaging, TV 18, Bilt, LCC Info, Escorts, Kesoram, Novartis, Goldstone Techno, Nirma, Adam Comsoft, Henkle Spic, Hoechst Mar, LML, TVS Elect, Wockhardt, Tata Finance and Bits.
