Sinha denies probe into 30 infotech companies

Email this report to a friend

Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha has denied that the Ministry of Finance is investigating 30 companies in the information technology industry for questionable stock market related activities, mergers and acquisitions.

He said he checked with the ministry after a leading daily in English in New Delhi front-paged a report saying a probe is on. His enquiries revealed that no such investigation is on. The news report is said to be one of the causes for today's downtrend in India's leading stock exchanges in Bombay and Delhi.
