 Varinder Agro DQ 99 Net Profit at Rs 12.931 Million
 (DQ98 Loss Rs 21.705 million)
 Varinder Agro Chemicals Ltd has announced a net profit of Rs 12.931million for the quarter ended December 31, 1999 as compared to a loss of Rs 21.705 million for the DQ 98. The sales for DQ 99 are marginally down by 3 % at Rs 293.21million as compared to Rs 302.285 million in DQ 98. The other income for DQ 99 is Rs 1.411million (DQ 98 Rs 4.717million).

 Morepen bags US $ 20 million order for Loratodine
 Morepen Laboratories Ltd has bagged an order of US $ 20 million for Loratadine, a non-sedative anti-histamine drug from the advanced European countries where the patent has already expired. According to the company this order will increase the profits of the company and also significantly enhance the exports of the company. The total order will be executed by the December 2000 whilst a schedule where, Loratodine worth US $ 2.5 million will be supplied by the end of March 2000 and the US $ 8million target would target would be fulfilled by June 2000.

 Ashok Leyland to manufacture Euro II and III compliant engines
 In a clarification given to the BSE, Ashok Leyland Ltd has informed that IVECO (Fiat Group) together with Hinduja Group own LRLIH Ltd which in turn holds major shareholding in Ashok Leyland Ltd (ALL). ALL has a license to manufacture Iveco engines, which are already Euro I compliant. Iveco will now be providing technical know-how for upgrading the engines to meet the norms of Euro II and later Euro III emission norms as and when these become applicable to India. As a part of continuous technology upgradation, the company has further enhanced its understanding with ZF of Germany whereby ZF has agreed to provide to ALL, the technical know how for upgrading the Gear Boxes to be fitted on ALL's vehicles to make them compatible with the upgraded engines corresponding to Euro norms. The company has also recently signed a MoU with Meritor Axles of USA for supply/providing technical know how relating to rear axles.

 Sun Pharma to consider Second Interim Dividend
 The Board of Directors of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd will meet on March 18, 2000 to consider the declaration of second interim dividend for the year ended March 31, 2000. The Board will also consider to fix the record date as March 23, 2000 for the payment of such 2nd interim dividend.

 Liberty Shoes declares 40% interim dividend

 The Board of Directors of HDFC Bank Ltd at its meeting to be held on March 29, 2000 will consider launching E-Broking and other related business through a new affiliate company. The Bank will make investment in equity shares of the said new company along with Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd and others. The proposal is subject to appropriate regulatory approvals.

 BSE restricts trading in Pertech Computers
 The BSE has informed its members to refrain from dealing in securities of Pertech Computers with effect from March 21, 2000. The dealing is restricted until further notice.

 N G Industries declares 20% Interim Dividend
 The Board of Directors of N G Industries Ltd at its meeting held today (15/03/2000), has declared an interim dividend of Rs 2/- per share for the current year 1999-2000. The dividend will be payable to those shareholders whose name appears on the register of members of the company on April 28, 2000.

 National Flask to issue equity shares on preferential basis
 The Board of Directors of National Flask Industries Ltd at its meeting held on March 14, 2000 has decided to issue 400,000 equity shares of Rs 10/- each at a premium of not less than Rs 90/- each on preferential basis. The shares shall be issued to persons as may be decided by the Board of Directors of the company, subject to the approval of the members of the company at the EGM to be held on April 17, 2000.

 Neuland Laboratories equity placement delayed
 The Board of Directors of Neuland Laboratories Ltd at its meeting held on March 14, 2000 could not allot equity shares to strategic investors due to procedural delays. The Board has resolved to constitute a committee of Directors for the allotment on March 17, 2000.

 Madura Coats Ltd has announced a net profit of Rs 111.90 million for the third quarter ended December 31, 1999 as compared to Rs 117 million for the quarter ended December 1998. The sales for DQ 99 are marginally up by 3.43 per cent at Rs 3,098.10 million as compared to Rs 2,995.50 million in the corresponding previous period. The other income for the quarter ended Dec 1999 is Rs 12.60 million (DQ 98 Rs 24.90 million).

 Inditalia Refcon to finalise takeover of software firm
 Inditalia Refcon Ltd has informed the Bombay Stock Exchange that the company is in the last stage of negotiations for takeover of a computer software company worth Rs 20 million. The further details of the takeover will be announced by April 15, 2000. The company has received an export inquiry from the US for wireless telecommunications software for $100,000. The company has informed that the CD is being developed and will be sent for approval. The company is in the last stages of negotiations with a company in USA for export of US $ two million worth software for Internet solutions in a specialized field and also marketing rights of this solutions in Australia and South Asia. According to the company this will be a specialized solution on Internet, which is portable (100% Java) and based on open system services, including FTP, SQL protocols. The company has informed that once this is finalized, it shall go ahead in full steam to develop the above software and finalise exports before September 30, 2000.

 LMW to consider interim dividend
 The board of directors of Lakshmi Machine Works Ltd will meet on March 27, 2000 to consider the payment of interim dividend for the financial year 1999-2000.
