Market@July 31: Day's report

Market opened on a weak note and remained in a narrow range throughout the day. The software stocks remained more or less weak. While stocks like Global Tele, Infosys, Zee Tele, Wipro remained weak Pentamedia showed smart gain during the second half of the day. Satyam Comp and Silverline also showed a positive close.

In the non-software segment ITC and Reliance remained weak while HLL showed a positive close. Telco meanwhile dipped more than 10 per cent. The trading volume was comparatively low on both exchanges.

Sensex up 3 points at 4280, Nifty steady at 1337.
