Market@July 26: Day's report

The market started on a weak note and in absence of buying support coupled with sustained supply, values showed a sharp decline.

The fall gathered momentum during the second half and a large number of stocks hit the lower circuit of 8 per cent. SSI, Pentamedia, Satyam, Silverline, Rolta. Aptech and Wipro showed a fall of more than 8 per cent.

In the non-software segment, stocks like L&T, ACC, ITC, Reliance, ITC, SBI and Telco also showed substantial drop.

Sensex down 144 points at 4192, Nifty down 34 points at 1315.
