Market@July 17: Day's report

Thanks to a sharp drop in key index-based stocks, the sensex witnessed a sharp fall on Monday. HLL, ITC, L&T, MTNL and ICICI fell sharply affecting the sensex. HLL, ITC and MTNL dipped by more than 5 per cent.

Meanwhile, the software stocks remained weak, and showed narrow movement. Among the other counters, MNC pharma stocks managed to attracted huge buying.

Sensex down 108 points at 4749, Nifty down 34 points at 1476.
