Market@July 13: Day's report

The market opened on a good note and with strong buying in the first half in stocks like HLL and ITC the sensex managed to remain above 5000 points in the first session of day's trade.

However, with huge selling pressure in software stocks led by Satyam Computers, software stocks recorded huge losses. Satyam hit the lower circuit at 8 per cent.

Other software stocks also dipped sharply. ITC and HLL also declined from their peaks. The trading volume was also quite high in the market.

Sensex down 79 points at 4885, Nifty down 17 points at 1517.
