Market@21 Feb: Day's report

For yet another day, the software sector remained in limelight. Huge buying was witnessed in almost all the software counters. As a result, a large number of software stocks hit the upper circuit and remained there for a major part of the day.

HLL also opened at the upper ciruit and remained there throughout the day, keeping the Sensex at high levels. Among the heavyweights, Infosys showed a gain of over 4 per cent, BHEL hit the upper circuit and ICICI showed a gain of over three per cent. Among the pivotals, Reliance, ITC and L&T showed a lower close.

Sensex was up 151 points at 5872 points. Nifty closed 34 points higher at 1751 points.

Silverline, Rolta, Pentamedia, Global Tele, Himachal Futuristic, Zee Telefilms, DSQ Software, Reliance Capital, Synergy Log-In, Mirc Electronics, Jain Studio, BSEL Info, Sriven Multitech, Sun Pharma, Telco, Bajaj Auto, HLL, Nirma, LCC Infotech, Polaris, Fujitsu ICIM, Lupin Lab, Thirumalai Chemicals, CyberTech and Filmcity Media.

Stocks at lower circuit
Grasim, Rama Newsprint, E.Merck, Apollo Hospitals, Maral Overseas, Elder Healthcare, Ashok Leyland Finance and Milton Plastics.

Stocks up over 5 per cent
HCL Infosystems, Satyam Computer, Ranbaxy, Colgate-Palmolive, Essel Packaging, McDowell, Voltas, Usha Beltron, Salora International, Nicholas Piramal, Pentafour Products, IDBI Bank, Sonata Software, Alpha Drugs, Southern Herbal, Infotech Enterprise and Clariant.

Stocks down over 4 per cent
Glaxo, BPCL, Wockhardt, Pfizer, Ballarpur, Aurobindo Pharma, Jaiprakash Industries, Torrent Pharma, Knoll Pharma, Protchem Industries, Ceat, Chicago Pneumatic, Gujarat Alkalies, Mico, Godrej Foods, Autoriders Industries, Artson Engineering, Symphony Communications and Hindustan Construction.
