Market@August 31: Day's report

Infosys attracted strong buying and hit the upper circuit at 8 per cent in the first two hours of trading. Later, SSI, Global Tele, Sterlite and DSQ Software also gained smartly. DSQ hit the 8 per cent circuit in the last 15 minutes of the trading. SSI also gained more than 5 per cent and attracted an all-time high volume of 1 million shares.

Sterlite was up 5 per cent and Global Tele also gained more than 3 per cent. Other stocks like Silverline, Satyam, Zee Tele and Himachal also showed a positive close. In the non-software segment, ITC, L&T and ACC managed to attract strong buying and showed a positive close. Other stocks showed a dull move.

Sensex up 66 points at 4478. Nifty up 20 points at 1396.
