Market@August 21: Day's report

Software stocks remain in the limelight and almost all the counters showed a positive close. The sentiment for the technology stocks remained extremely bullish on Monday. After a firm opening values gained further ground.

Trading volumes were quite high on both the exchanges. Silverline was the star performer, with a gain of nearly 12 per cent. The stock attracted a volume of 7.53 million shares--all-time high.

Zee Tele meanwhile also attracted an all-time high volume of 17.98 million shares. The stock gained more than 9 per cent. Pentamedia also attracted an all-time high volume of 6.9 million shares.

DSQ Soft, Pentamedia and Satyam Comp also gained smartly. Himachal, Global Tele, Wipro, SSI and Sterlite also gained more than 4 per cent. The non-software stocks also remained firm and gained marginally.

Sensex up 68 points at 4415, Nifty up 13 points at 1371.
