Market@August 18: Day's report

Infosys gave a major push to the sentiment on Friday. Barring Himachal, almost all the software stocks showed a positive close.

Digital Equipment and SSI gained more than 9 per cent each. Infosys also gained 6 per cent. Other stocks like Wipro, Pentamedia, Silverline, and DSQ Soft also gained smartly.

The old economy shares meanwhile showed a dull movement. Reliance, SBI, ITC showed a negative close.

Sensex up 54 points at 4348, Nifty up 16 points at 1357.
