 P R Menon appointed as MD of Tata Chemicals
 In a statement issued to BSE Tata Chemicals Ltd. has informed that Mr. Prasad R Menon has been appointed as Managing Director of the company. At present Mr. Menon is currently Technical Director and Agri Business Sector Chief at Nagarjuna Group

 HDFC to acquire upto 24.5% in MIEL e-security
 Housing Development Finance Corporation Ltd. has informed BSE that it proposes to acquire upto 24.5% in the paid up capital of MIEL e-Security Private Ltd..MIEL e-Security Private Ltd. is in the business of developing and marketing of security products and services for a large range of e-Commerce and Enterprises Security applications.

 Sonata Software to acquire balance equity of Offshore Digital
 At its meeting held on August 18, 2000, the Board of Directors of Sonata Software Ltd has decided to acquire the balance 1,60,000 ordinary shares in the Capital Stock of M/s Offshore Digital Services, Inc., USA (ODSI), subject to necessary approvals. Sonata software will acquire these shares for a total consideration of approximately USD 0.26 million.
With the completion of this acquisition, Offshore Digital Services Inc. will be a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sonata Software Ltd.

 Aasia Management holding in IDL Industries to increase from 6.46% to 7.21%
 M/s. Aasia Management & Consultancy Ltd is presently holding 5,16,695 equity shares of Rs 10/- each representing 6.46% of Paid up capital of IDL Industries Ltd. IDL Industries Ltd has informed BSE that it has received relevant share certificates for 60,000 shares to be transferred in M/s. Aasia Management & Consultancy Ltd. With this transaction, the shareholding of Aasia Management in the paid up capital of IDL Industries Ltd will become7.21% showing an increase of 0.75%.

 Pentasoft opens 2 new training centres
 Pentasoft Technologies Ltd has opened two new educational centres at Gandhipuram and Peolamode in Coimbatore on August 16, 2000. Pentasoft has opened these two additional centres to meet the growing demand for high-end training in Coimbatore. The two centres aim at generating and providing quality manpower to the IT industry. The centre at Peolamode will offer specialised high-end courses for the engineering students, while the Gandhipuram centre will focus on high-end web centric and e-com courses.
Mr. V Sridhar, General Manager (Education and Training), said that Pentasoft has a better competitive edge over the other training centres in Coimbatore as it provides employment opportunities to its students, both in-house and overseas.
Pentasoft's specialised IT courses are taught to students at 150 modern, state-of-the-art Pentasoft Centres of Excellence across the country. The focus is on imparting knowledge, skills and employment oriented training. During 1999-2000, around 20,000 candidates have studied in Pentasoft's various centres are with various organisations of repute.

 Rolta Board to consider exchange ratio based on valuation report of consulting firms
 The meeting of the Board of Directors of Rolta India Ltd. will be held on August 25, 2000 to inter alia consider the following:
1. To consider the recommendations of the Independent Committee of Directors on the valuation /exchange ratio report for demerger of the Software Conversion Division Of Rolta Design & Conversion Services Ltd. submitted by the two consulting firms viz, M/s Deloitte, Haskins & Sells and M/s N M Ranji & Co.
2. To consider the draft composite scheme of amalgamation between the company and Rolta Animation & Modelling Ltd. and scheme of the arrangement between RDCS and the company.

 High Court orders winding up of Rushabh Precision
 High Court of Mumbai has ordered winding up of Rushabh Precision Bearings Ltd and the dealings in the equity shares of the Company will be suspended with effect from August 18, 2000.

 SVC Superchem PTA project starts production
 SVC Superchem Ltd. has informed BSE that the company has successfully produced and has also sold part of Purified Terephthalic Acid (PTA). The company has set up the PTA project having 1,20,000 MTPA capacity at Chatta, in Dist Mathura UP. The company is expected to go in continuous production within three months with the support of Banks & Financial Institutions.

 Organic Coatings enters into JV with Rainbow Inks
 Organic Coatings Ltd has entered into a joint venture agreement with Rainbow Inks Industries, a firm registered and governed under laws of Nepal. A new company will be incorporated at Nepal which will be engaged in manufacturing of various types of inks and resins. Both the parties will hold 50% of the share capital.

 Inlac Granston Ltd has informed BSE that, it has been declared as a Sick Company under the provisions of SICA and the case is pending before BIFR.

 Indo Asian Fusegear to issue preference shares
 The Board of Directors of Indo Asian Fusegear Ltd has decided, subject to necessary approvals, to issue 1million preference shares (cumulative and redeemable) of Rs.10/- each to foreign collaborator Heinrich Kopp GmbH & Co., AG, Germany.

 Symphony Comfort FY 2000 net profit at Rs 8.17 million
 Symphony Comfort Systems Ltd. has posted a net profit of Rs 8.17 million for the year ended June 30, 2000 as compared to Rs 7.89 million in the same period last year. Total income for the year ended June 30, 2000 is higher by 10.63% at Rs 324.34 million as compared to Rs 293.18 million in the same period last year.
